The New York Times 175th Anniversary
New York City
September 2026
The New York Times marked 175 years with a milestone celebration bringing together journalists, cultural figures and friends of The Times for an evening honoring its past, present and future.
The story of The New York Times unfolded throughout the evening, creating an experience that felt thoughtful, interactive and distinctly of the moment. Historical artifacts and archival storytelling brought 175 years into the room, while the signature red washed the space in warmth and color. Speaker spotlights, a Toast to The Times and unexpected moments carried guests through the night, with Janelle Monáe closing with a surprise performance and DJ D-Nice behind the decks.
The celebration came together across every layer of the experience, from custom-built scenic and guest experience to technical production, event capture, food, and talent. Following the celebration, the historical exhibition was carefully reinstalled at The New York Times headquarters, extending the experience beyond the night itself.
A New York institution, 175 years in the making, celebrated in true New York fashion.
